Greetings,
There is no “one-size fits all” formula for a perfect Life balance. Life can change from day to day depending upon our responsibilities, priorities and demands. The right balance will be different when we are single or married, have children, start a new career or are nearing retirement.
By strengthening our resiliency, we build a natural defense system against stress that comes in all shapes and forms (health issues, workplace stress, strained family relationships, post-traumatic stress syndrome to name a few). The more accessible our resources are when faced with challenges in our stressful lifestyles, the better our ability to bounce back and regain a sense of normalcy. This holds true whether we are a business executive making crucial decisions, a parent with a sick child or a student studying for final exams.
Move your Mind and Body! Keeping physically active is a key component to a healthy lifestyle. Whether it is exercise at the Gym or on the Yoga mat/chair, breathe life into what you’re doing! By introducing breathing techniques into various forms of exercise, you will focus better on what you are doing and this can become a meditative mind-body experience. Just as your breath relates to your Nervous System, so does meditation, by helping you to slow down and clear your mind; igniting a relaxation response.
Mix it up and have fun! Think Variety, from weight bearing exercises to strengthen your bones (gym and yoga poses), cardio for your heart, lungs and brain (walking – jumping rope – running – cycling) – keep your body guessing – it will love your for it!
Leave the cell phone behind and give yourself the opportunity to see more of the beauty in Life. For those with medical conditions or those who haven’t exercised in a while, it is always recommended that you consult with your physician prior to starting any new exercise routine.
