Greetings,
Train your Brain to think Healthy and view yourself as an emerging Synthesis of Nutrition, Exercise and Rest. You are the unifying factor in this equation. Our philosophy is to “Keep it Simple”. We begin this month with a three part Summer Series designed to give you some ideas, recipes and techniques to experiment with…in practical ways. Have fun exploring to find out what works for you and what you enjoy. Enjoyment is a catalyst throughout the series. Ultimately, this approach may lead to ‘jump-start’ a healthier lifestyle for you and your family.
Our series begins in a unique way with Skin Nutrition. I’d like to introduce Kim Sevy, a Multi-State Licensed Aesthetician with over a decade of experience in skin care and medical aesthetics. After working with one of New York City’s top dermatologists, Kim founded her company Kim Sevy Skin Therapy and created her own line of ALKIM ME by Kim – the foundation for healthy, radiant skin – products and methodology of Skin Therapy and Nutrition based on her experience as an Aesthetician and her knowledge of the powerful healing properties of Nature. Her philosophy is simple: ‘What we eat directly affects our skin’s vitality and health’.
Here’s one of Kim’s super fun and very tasty Nature inspired ideas that benefits us internally and externally:
Strawberry Mint Facial Scrub
- Ingredients: 1 Tsp. Baking Soda, 1 Strawberry, 2 Mint leaves, 2 Tbsp. Olive Oil
- Toss strawberry and mint and give a good chop. Scrape into a small bowl, add olive oil and baking soda, and mix well.
- On freshly washed and warm skin, gently massage the mixture into your skin using small circular motions with finger tips (be gentle, not too much pressure).
- Massage for 2 minutes and rinse well with warm water.
- The baking soda mixed with the enzymes from the strawberry will exfoliate dead cells from the skin. The olive oil deeply cleans pores while hydrating at the same time and the mint tones skin leaving you clean, exfoliated and glowing.
- This can be done at home 1-3 times per week.
- Radiant skin!
In addition to the natural exfoliation, toning and hydration these foods deliver, they just happen to be two of Kim’s favorite Summer Beauty foods to also enjoy eating.
- Strawberries. These juicy red beauties are packed full of Vitamin C goodness. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant which helps skin’s ability to produce collagen, fight off free radicals, and repair DNA.
- Mint. This cool green gorgeous herb is bursting with health, beauty and skin benefits. Mint is a powerful antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anti-fungal and has been shown to protect cells from mutation and enhance DNA repair making it a huge ally for fighting cancer.
Kim is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. She travels extensively throughout the United States working with private clients and giving lectures and workshops, while continuing to create Nature inspired products. Read more about Kim and her work by visiting her website (www.kimsevy.com).
Look for Part 2 in our Summer Series, which will focus on adding more health and vitality to your life through balancing fitness, nutrition, emotional management and lifestyle management.
May your days be filled with Love, Health, Happiness, Kindness and Beauty!
